Whether you're a passionate equestrian, a nature lover, or simply appreciate the allure of these majestic animals, my collection of stunning images will transport you to a world where elegance and strength intertwine.
While horses are undoubtedly the stars of my portfolio, I have a soft spot for their adorable counterparts, the donkeys. These gentle souls with their long ears and endearing expressions have captured my affection, and I showcase their charm alongside their equine companions. Through my lens, I aim to highlight the unique qualities that make donkeys equally deserving of our admiration. So sad that they are often seen as symbols of stupidity, but spend time getting to know their true characters, which I strive to do so through the medium of photography, and you'll see something very, very different

I've been involved with horses for many years, and enjoy capturing their character through the medium of photography.
There are few more enviable sights than that of horse and rider enjoying a happy, trusting relationship. I have photographed action and stunt riders, such as Atkinson Action Horses and the Devil's Horsemen. I'm also a fan of Scurry racing, especially at the Ellingham show, where it is described as Heavy Horse Driving
Scurry Racing, Dorset County Show
I have always been a fan of Aimé Félix Tschiffely, who, in response to a wager regarding the stamina of the Criollo horse, decided to ride solo from Buenos Aires Argentina to Washington DC. Public opinion was that the man must be mad, but he proved the stamina and hardiness of the breed. After spending two years largely in the company of the two horses, they got to know each other rather well. A big part of this achievement was that both horses were around 15 years old and had never been broken in before.
So it is not just about action, but horse and rider in quiet contemplation, enjoying each other's company
I can work either on a location of your choice, eg the local beaches of Hampshire or Dorset, on the New Forest, or at your stables or paddock within 25 miles of my home address at Lymington regarding my standard prices.
If I am coming to your home, stables, or other location, I need to be sure I know where to come. I don't have a satnav, and would not rely on finding a location by using one. Also, I don't trust getting a reliable mobile phone signal.
If you are appearing in the shoot with your horse, I suggest dressing for a country walk or ride. Avoid bright colours, patterns, or logos on clothing and bright colours on a lead or halter
While your horse or other pet should be cleaned and groomed, avoid looking as if you are going to a competition eg plaited mane
Ladies, if you have long hair and wish to alter your style during the shoot, better to start with hair loose and then restrain it. Also avoid excessive eye shadow, bright lipstick, and foundation which is reflective
Will there be an assistant to get your horses' attention, such as pony nuts in a bowl
If your horse is skittish, I suggest he wears a bridle for the shoot
If you want group photos or want to include your dog (s), that's fine. My session is defined by the length of time behind the camera.
If I am going to use lighting, reflectors or backdrops, it is important that they be tied down. I don't trust weights, so this will mean a cord or strap which will stop the stands blowing over.
A horse and rider in harmony appear to move by magic, to quote Robert Surtees "There is no closer secret than that between a rider and his horse."
